Today, in anticipation of Linkin Park's
upcoming iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game "8-Bit Rebellion"; The Linkin Park
Association and Keaton Hashimoto are proud to present to you "8-Bit
Theory", a 16 track tribute album featuring 8-Bit inspired covers of
some of Linkin Park's greatest hits from Hybrid Theory to Minutes To
Midnight.
Available in MP3 format and created entirely by Keaton himself over a
span of several weeks, it should be noted that these songs are not the
Mike Shinoda created interpretations done for Linkin Park's upcoming
video game "8-Bit Rebellion". Instead "8-Bit Theory" is an unofficial
and completely seperate project done by Keaton himself, which is
intended as an awesome tribute to the band while also embracing video
game memories of the past.
Done without the use of just VST Plugins and software shortcuts, "8-Bit
Theory" was composed entirely by Keaton (note by note) and thus
provides a depth not seen in many 8-Bit interpretations of the band's
music. Commenting on the album himself Keaton said:
"It was important that the album had a unique sound unlike anything that
could be found on the net, and through various uses of hardware and
software, 8-Bit Theory manages to balance the softer and heavier sides
of Linkin Park’s greatest hits. Utilizing 8-bit assorted sounds while
keeping true to the band’s style was the most important rule of thumb
during the composition process. The process resulted in a much more raw
sound that allowed for range I hadn’t seen in other 8-bit
interpretations on the web."
